A new Tron movie, currently known as Tron Ares, begins shooting in August starring Jared Leto. Directed by Joachim Rønning, best known for his previous work with Disney where he directed Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He has also recently completed work on his latest film, Young Woman and the Sea, in which Daisy Ridley plays the first woman to swim across the English Channel.
After the success of Tron: Legacy in 2010, Disney has been hungry for a sequel of some kind. But Leto’s participation has certainly not been entirely positive. Not so long ago Leto was a big name and was praised for his previous work in Dallas Buyers Club, but in recent years he has been involved in several controversies and is today most associated with the ultra flop Morbius, and there is no shortage of criticism over the election in social media.
Are you looking forward to Tron Ares and how do you see Jared Leto today after all the tours that have been?
