The Miami Police are looking for the person responsible for a intentional fire that destroyed five cars outside a building household.
One of the cars is an SUV Mercedes-Benz that its owner, a single mother, had bought just two months ago.
The woman, called Nancy Echavarriahas lived in the property, located in the area of Northwest 76th Street and North Miami Avenue, for five years.
The robbery occurred early Wednesday morning. As reported America TeVecity firefighters responded to the emergency call around 4:40 am.
Although they extinguished the fire quickly, Four vehicles were completely destroyed and another was damaged. The most affected was the Mercedes Benz.
“I don’t understand why they want to do something like that, I’m a single mother, I have two children, now I’m left without a car too, I don’t know who could do that, because they don’t have the heart for anything,” said Nancy.
“I was asleep and I didn’t hear anything, my child was the one who told me. I don’t understand that. Working hard to have a nice car, I was going to give that car to my child who was going to graduate,” she added.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire..
Mike Vega, spokesman for the Miami Police confirmed that it was an intentional act.
Detectives are trying to obtain video from surveillance cameras and talking to neighbors to see if anyone has information. So far there are no clues.
“We know that the owners of the vehicles are now affected and we are trying to determine if it was an intentional person setting fire to all the vehicles, or if it was intentional to one vehicle and the fire spread to other vehicles parked nearby,” Vega said.
Authorities ask anyone who may have seen someone fleeing the area nearby at the time of the fire to contact authorities through the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers line at (305) 471-8477.
