According to the contractor Kauno Tiltai, the delay is due to the fact that due to the water level in the river being too low, they had to build a stilt bridge instead of the pontoon bridge originally planned.
– Negotiations regarding the changed method have been going on for some time and as a result Kauno Tiltai gets the ten extra months they say they need, says Therese Bäckström Zidoli, head of function at Skellefteå municipality.

The bridge will also be more expensive for the municipality. However, it is unclear how much.
– There will be an increase in costs and there is an ongoing negotiation on that issue, says Therese Bäckström Zidoli.
The date for the final inspection of the bridge is now set to 30 June 2024.
