Although it is not really a secret, it is little known. Hippie Hollow Park, located in Travis County in the Austin area, is the only public lake that allows nudists.

“Entrance to the park is restricted to those over the age of 18…nudity is acceptable, lewd behavior is not,” reads the website about the park in Travis County.

Pets are prohibited and you have to pay to enter the place.

Hippie Hollow Park is located in the Lake Travis Basin area, approximately a 30-minute drive from downtown Austin. The park has a rugged and rocky shoreline and offers spectacular views of Lake Travis.

The park has been named “Hippie Hollow” since the 1960s, reportedly due to the “hippie” movement. Due to the large number of people from this movement who came to the lake to sunbathe and enjoy the water, the name stuck.

If you go to visit, the park authorities warn about the presence of zebra mussels.

“Zebra mussels have been found along the shoreline of our lake parks. Swimmers and others seeking aquatic recreation should exercise caution when in or near the water,” the statement said.
