Given the constant messages of aggression between the Colombian President Gustavo Petro and the fAttorney General of the Nation, Francisco Barbosa, a State official has come out to mediate in the middle of the confrontation source, it is the Ombudsman, Carlos Camargo.

From a distance, Camargo made a call to both parties to calm down, and lower the caliber of the accusations that come from both shores.

“In a democracy, the Constitution and laws rule, and we are all obliged to comply with them. That Constitution orders that we each work within our powers in a respectful and harmonious manner”, said Carlos Camargo, Ombudsman.

He also noted the importance of a respectful dialogue between both parties and put egos aside to speak clearly.

“You have to go from speech to facts, and set an example of the ability to superimpose respectful and constructive dialogue above egosbecause, as the grandparents say, arrogance is a bad adviser”, was the call of the ombudsman.

Finally, he pointed out that Colombia is a democratic country, therefore, everyone must comply with the laws that are stated in the Constitution of 1991 And the law.

“In a democracy, the Constitution and laws rule, and we are all obliged to comply. That Constitution orders that we each work within our powers in a respectful and harmonious manner,” Camargo pointed out.

The prosecutor Daniel Hernandez denounced the President Gustavo Petrobefore the Committee on Impeachments of the House of Representativesafter the president cited a newspaper article in which they pointed out that he had ties and alliances with the criminal gang Clan del Golfo.

“The president retweeted a publication of the Nueva Prensa by the alleged journalist Gonzalo Guillen in which he stated that I have sponsored and assisted more than 200 Clan del Golfo homicidesmassacres and forced disappearances, a situation that is a total falsehood,” said prosecutor Hernández in his indictment.

In said article, it was denounced that Hernández blocked the investigations against the paramilitary group on the north coast of Colombia.

According to what was denounced by the journalist Gonzalo Guillén, Daniel Hernández received alerts and police information about more than 200 homicides that were going to be committed by the Clan del Golfo on the north coast, “but allowed them to be committed and immediately began to protect the top 14 murderers, those who remain free and continue committing crimes”, reads the journalistic investigation.

“Hernández has had to summon urgent work committees because the lives of human beings are at stake and assign tasks and communicate with the U.S. Embassy, because there is drug trafficking, and request arrest warrants. But he never did anything,” an investigator of the case told La Nueva Prensa.

After knowing the publication of the media, Gustavo Petro used his social networks to comment on the article:

“The State cannot sit idle in the face of the serious complaints that the journalist Guillén has been making about hundreds of homicides and the disappearance of citizens by the gulf clan. A CTI official informed high-ranking members of the Prosecutor’s Office of this in advance and they refused to act, allowing the deaths,” the president trilled.

After the trill shared by the head of state, Francisco BarbosaAttorney General of the Nation, replied:

“President Gustavo Petro set a trill against a judicial official of the Attorney General’s Office, where he pointed out that there is a kind of contumacy or support for the murders committed by the Clan del Golfo. I want to remind him, because I think he forgot, that this official was a victim of the La Rochela massacre where his father was assassinated by the paramilitaries”.
