A few hours after the Giants got out of the agreement with player Carlos Correa, the Mets pounced on the Puerto Rican shortstop, although now they could do the same as the San Francisco ninth.

The link between the New York organization and Correa is in the wire.

As happened with the Giants, the Mets have not given a passing grade to the physical exam that the Puerto Rican underwent to close the contract that the New Yorkers offered him for 12 seasons and 315 million dollars.

According to Ken Rosenthal and Dan Hayes of The AthleticThe Mets, like the Giants, “have raised concerns about Carlos Correa’s lower right leg, which could jeopardize the lucrative deal.

“The parties could enter into a new contract if the Mets continue to express reservations about the long-term stability of Correa’s leg,” Rosenthal and Hayes wrote in the post yesterday afternoon.

The Giants expressed those reservations Monday after examining Correa’s right leg that underwent surgical surgery in 2014 while at the Astros’ offices.

The Puerto Rican injured the lower part of his right leg sliding towards third base. In the play the fibula and right ligament are fractured. He hasn’t missed any time because of his injury as a major leaguer, but the Giants were concerned about his ability to hang in there and maintain his mobility over a 13-year contract.

The Mets have now found themselves with the same problem that could cause the link between Correa and the Big Apple team to not be as extensive as it was at the beginning.
