Customs officials discovered a backpack full of hookah tobacco on a traveler at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER). A total of 35 kilograms of tobacco were confiscated, as the main customs office announced on Monday in Potsdam. According to customs information, the travel allowance for sea and air travelers for water pipe tobacco is currently 250 grams.

The 28-year-old traveler explained further that he did not know that he would have had to register the water pipe tobacco because he wanted to continue to the Czech Republic. Criminal tax proceedings were initiated against the man. The smoking utensils were already secured last Saturday. (dpa)
