Police investigating officer-involved shooting in West Hartford

One person was killed after a police officer-involved shooting in West Hartford, Connecticut, Tuesday night.

Officers were called to an investigation on New Britain Avenue near New Park Avenue around 5:00 p.m.

Police later said the investigation was related to an officer-involved shooting in West Hartford. There were damaged vehicles visible at the scene Tuesday night.

According to investigators, the officer discharged his weapon and struck a person. Life-saving efforts were provided to the person on scene.

She was then transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her identity has not been revealed.

Authorities said the officer involved in the incident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

The Office of the Inspector General and the Connecticut State Police are investigating the incident.
