Last Call to Become a Philadelphia Lifeguard

If you want to be part of the Philadelphia lifeguards during the summer, the deadline to apply for certification has arrived: this Monday.

For such reason, the Parks and Recreation Department organized a free certification class For those interested. You just have to be at least 16 years old to participate.

The swimming tests will take place in Kelly Poollocated at 4231 Lansdowne Drive, from Monday June 26 to Friday June 30 at 9:00 am

It should be noted that a long line of participants registered Monday morning at the aquatic facility, but it was not open and there were no instructors available.

The city needs about 50 lifeguards to ensure all 61 public pools can open this summer. Last year they were only able to open 50 pools due to the lack of lifeguards.

Salary for would-be lifeguards is $16 an hour.
