“Between heaven and earth” – this is the motto under which Bochum is starting the Science Year 2023. A former ESA astronaut will be a guest at the start.

“Bochum between heaven and earth” – this is the title under which Bochum is starting the Science Year 2023, which has the motto “Our Universe” throughout Germany. Throughout the year, citizens can get to know the endless expanses of our cosmos at events together with experts.

The opening will take place on Saturday, February 11 at 7 p.m. in the dome of the Bochum planetarium at Castroper Straße 67. Topics of the science year are presented, followed by a look at the starry sky. Afterwards there will be a conversation between the former ESA astronaut Gerhard Thiele and Prof. Susanne Hüttemeister, Director of the Bochum Planetarium.

Stars over Bochum- These planets can be seen in January, followed by a presentation of the video installation “ColorSpace” by Bochum artist Lisa Lyskava and electronic sounds by Hagen musician and amateur astronomer Stefan Erb.

Free tickets are available at the planetarium: www.planetarium-bochum.de/de_DE/home. Starting at 3 p.m., members of the Bochum Science Year organizational network will be presenting their research and activities at stands in the aisle around the planetarium dome. It is also possible to visit the exhibition without a ticket.
