May has arrived and brought some exciting releases on Star+. One of them is the comedy-drama series Plannersan exclusive streaming production that premieres on is 5. Signed by Bárbara Diez — a famous event organizer from Argentina —, the series follows the life of Malena (Celeste Cid), a recently divorced woman who needs to reinvent herself at work and in her personal life.
In the plot, Celeste gives life to Malena Carregal, a beautiful and well-off young woman who, after divorcing Marcos (Gonzalo Valenzuela), also ends up losing her job, since she worked in her husband’s office.
Together, they organized events and ran one of the biggest agencies in Argentina, but now without work, she can only try to start over. For this, she will have Cali (Leticia Siciliani), an old friend who has the opposite personality to hers, but who will help her find herself as a businesswoman.
Along with these new assignments, Malena will still have to deal with her teenage son, problems at home and her mother who doesn’t really believe in her potential.

“It was a challenge for me and for everyone, because there was social distancing and all these health issues that put limits on us.
We all had to adapt, but we were so grateful to be working and making the show that at no point was that an impediment. What a good thing we were doing!”

In addition to commenting on the pandemic, Celeste also told us a little more about what to expect from the series.
The production, which will mix dramatic elements with a comic plot, will also bring a certain feminist tone by showing the protagonist empowering herself and fighting the sexist speeches of Marcos, her ex-husband.
According to the actress, the fact that the series is written by three women helps shed light on the theme, but the look of the director, Barone, is also very sensitive and refined.
She also said that to create Malena, she was inspired by Barbara Diez (the creator of the production), and brought minimalist elements to her costumes, with light clothes and discreet accessories.
As for the international repercussions, Celeste says that she is happy and that she believes that the fact that the series deals with a universal theme, such as divorce and marriage, will help her to be successful outside Argentina as well. “It pleases me to think that the series goes beyond the different language.”
