Of course, Game Freak primarily makes all the big Pokémon games, all of which have done very well over the past 30 years, but they’ve also made little digressions here and there.

However, their next big venture will be their biggest departure ever. Via a press release, it is revealed that they have teamed up with the publisher behind The Outer Worlds and OlliOlli World, Private Division, to together create an ambitious big game called Project Bloom.

And what is that? Well, it’s a samurai-based third-person action-adventure that offers realistic graphics. The latter is big news from Game Freak, which has always preferred a stylized, almost cartoonish aesthetic.

Director Kota Furushima calls Project Bloom the “bold and tonally different from our prior work”. However, it’s not due for release until between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, so the wait will be long. However, we can find a first picture below.
