“We learned about the case through an anonymous call to our human trafficking hotline.” Based on the call, an undercover operation was organized that ended with the arrest of Luvin, who faces charges of human trafficking, kidnapping, pimping and retaining a minor, and his partner in crime, Dunkelberger, who faces charges of human trafficking, kidnapping, pimping and prostitution, the prosecutor said.

Dunkelberger was the one who contacted the victim online and sold him a glamorous image of Miami, where he could make a lot of money.

“It was Dunkelberger, who bought the victim the ticket and told him he could stay at his house. “What she hid from him was that she and Luvin were going to sexually traffic her,” the prosecutor said.

According to Fernández-Rundle, during the undercover operation organized by the police, the agents stayed in a hotel with the two women.

Dunkelberger negotiated prices for sexual services that the victim could offer to the undercover agents. “At the time of the conversation, the victim looked extremely uncomfortable,” acknowledged the prosecutor who saw the images recorded by the agents.

After the arrest, the victim confessed that she lived in a small town in Oklahoma and that she had experienced an abusive relationship with the child’s father and that she had financial problems.

Hours later, the mother confessed that Luvin had kidnapped her son. “At this point, the investigation took a turn from human trafficking to child kidnapping.” The child was rescued safe and sound, thanks to the expertise of the agents.

“These arrests would not have been possible without the combined efforts of the human trafficking team and the various police forces of the city of Miami.”

Luvin is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he must await trial without bail. While his partner in crimes, locked up in the same penitentiary center, the judge imposed bail of $18,000.

The prosecutor thanked the community and urged them to collaborate with the authorities “to put an end to human trafficking.” If anyone has information about human trafficking, they can call the anonymous phone number 305-349-7867.
