Police: shot dead neighbors for alleged indecent exposure to their daughters

BOISE, Idaho — An Idaho father killed a neighboring family, upset that the neighbor’s 18-year-old son allegedly exposed himself to the man’s children, according to police documents.

Majorjon Kaylor, 31, of Kellogg, was charged with four counts of aggravated manslaughter in the Father’s Day shooting attack in that town, nearly 400 miles north of Boise.

Kaylor shot 65-year-old Kenneth Guardipee at close range; her daughter Kenna Guardipee, 41; and her youngest son, 16-year-old Aiken Smith, while at the local temple, an Idaho State Police detective said in a probable cause affidavit released Tuesday night.

Smith’s older brother, 18-year-old Devin Smith, was shot multiple times in the head, according to the document.

Kaylor and his wife, Kaylie Kaylor, told investigators they were upset that several days earlier Devin Smith had masturbated in their bedroom in front of a window overlooking Kaylor’s young daughters.

The families shared a duplex and the girls were playing outside in the yard when the indecent exposure allegedly occurred.

The family reported the alleged exposure to police, whose report was sent to the county attorney the same day so a criminal charge could be filed, Kellogg Police Chief Paul Twidt told The Associated Press Tuesday.

The university said it is destroying the property as a “healing step.”

However, on Sunday night, the Kaylors got into an argument with Kenna and Kenneth Guardipee about how the prosecution was being handled.

That’s when Majorjon Kaylor allegedly attacked both adults with shots to the head, before entering the family’s apartment and killing the two children, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Kaylor is being held without bail and made his first court appearance Tuesday.

He has yet to plead guilty or not guilty and a preliminary hearing has been set for July 3. Prosecutors could seek the death penalty, but do not have to inform the court of their plans until 60 days after the plea is filed.
