PORTERVILLE, California – Porterville authorities arrested Charles Fisher after attempting to set fire to a residence where three adults and a 5-year-old child were inside.

The 40-year-old suspect had a court order prohibiting him from going near the home, yet Fisher still made it as far as the 800 block of West Putnam Avenue in Porterville to allegedly commit the crime.

According to the police investigation, and apparently out of anger, the man threw gasoline at a 24-year-old woman and then started the fire under the house.

A neighbor was able to extinguish the flames and it did not escalate, authorities said.

The suspect fled the scene but returned hours later where he was taken into custody without incident.

Armando Martínez was found guilty of multiple charges of sexual abuse, which would have been committed over 10 years.

Charles Joseph Fisher was arrested and booked into the Tulare County South Detention Center where he faces charges of attempted murder, home invasion, violation of a court order, stalking and arson. His bail was set at $1,000,000.
