The Majors form a separate category of tournaments. Indeed, on the Counter Strike scene, the majors are the most prestigious. Like a winner of Grand Slam in tennis, winning a major allows you to go down in history, ensure your legacy and earn the respect of all. The economic dimension is also not negligible, between the cash prize today necessarily greater than one million dollars and the decals which sell out very quickly.

But while everyone wants to be part of it, the BLAST.tv Paris Major will be very selective. The number of places is limited, for spectators as well as for the teams! In order not to miss out, we explain to you how the Ticketing and the qualifying process.

While the ticket office for the Major de Paris will open its doors on January 26, on the networks, some have already claimed to have places for the competition… But how is this possible? For the moment, it is only possible to buy tickets for the Champions Stage (top 8). We let you choose your tickets, the prices varying according to the category and the number of days. On the other hand, we still don’t know if the other Internships will take place in the presence of the public… the CEO of BLAST, Robbie Douek, left some doubts at the press conference on January 11th.

The format: from qualifying to the title, an obstacle course

Everything has been explained in the BLAST video, but neophytes may have a little trouble understanding… Especially because you have to take into account the breakdown of regions (EU/NA/Asia) and past performance teams. To make it even easier, follow the guide.

Qualify for the Major for European teams

The process is gradual and you have to climb the ladder one after the other

  • One Open Qualifier (open to everyone)
  • One Closed Qualifier where teams like Team Vitality have an automatic place thanks to their honorable performance at the Rio Major
  • One CMARegional Major Ranking, where a team like Outsider and Navi have an automatic place thanks to their impressive performance at the Rio Major

Note also that there will be a Last Chance Qualifier, to draft a team. But the terms of this last chance tournament have not yet been revealed.

Win the Major

Once you are qualified for the Major, you must then survive through the different phases, called Stages.

  • The Challengers Stage
  • The Legends Stage
  • The Champions Stage

Depending on their ranking in qualifying, some teams qualify directly for the Legends Stage. However, it is impossible to land straight into the Champions Stage… It must be said that this phase only includes the crème de la crème, the top 8, who compete in a direct elimination bracket.
