The Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, comes to the United States to participate in the Spring Assembly of the IMF and the World Bank. After the working meeting in the Dominican Republic with the Assistant Secretary of State of the United States, Wendy Sherman, and with Ricardo Zúñiga, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, the agenda of the Minister of Economy in Washington begins today with the spring meetings of the IMF and WB in Washington DC
These include, in addition to the plenary session, the meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), a working breakfast with economic authorities from South America and Mexico organized by the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department, the meeting of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, a High-Level Seminar on Macrofinancial Implications of Crypto Assets, and a meeting organized by Kristalina Georgieva with Ministers of Finance and Governors of Central Banks of Latin America, Canada and the US.
During his official mission, the Minister also plans working meetings with Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, as well as Michel Pyle, Deputy Director of the National Security Council.
Massa met with Wendy Sherman, Biden’s liaison for Argentina
He will also meet with the main adviser to President Biden, John Gonzalez, with whom he will review the bilateral strategic agenda, which contains, among other issues, the link with multilateral credit organizations, IMF, World Bank, IDB, foreign trade, the Generalized System of Preferences (SGP), exports of biofuels, citrus , pharmaceuticals and food products, cooperation in energy, critical minerals and lithium.
It will also hold bilateral meetings with Mathias CormannSecretary General of the OECD, and with José Antonio Ocampo, Minister of Finance and Public Credit of Colombia.
