The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) managed to sentence Mauricio Antonio Cruz Córvera, a member of the Barrio 18 gang, to ten years in prison, who tried to kill a policeman.

As it was known, the defendant committed crimes in the municipalities located to the south of the department of San Vicente and was prosecuted for the crime of attempted aggravated homicide (attempted homicide).

The account establishes that the events occurred on May 8, 2012, in the El Casino farmhouse, San Ramón Grifal canton, in the municipality of Tecoluca, in the aforementioned department.

The investigations determined that the defendant attacked police officers while they were carrying out investigative proceedings related to another case. At that moment, Cruz started shooting at them and twice wounded one of them.

It should be noted that the gang member had been a fugitive from justice since the day of the events, but was detained during the Emergency Regime so that he could face justice for this pending case.
