“We are supporting people in the communities, tourists to consume responsibly and to consume locally, what people are producing and thus have respect for culture, nature and the places that are visited,” he said. .
As has been verified, according to De la Torre, tourism after the covid-19 pandemic is no longer the same, currently people are more aware of protecting the sites they visit and instead of leaving traces of contamination, they choose to leave a green footprint and the peace of mind that they did not affect the destination.

A crucial task is to promote carbon emissions, for which an agreement was reached with a company that has already worked on it in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato; in Querétaro and through the agreement it seeks to take the first steps in Quintana Roo so that the 11 municipalities of the state are committed to low emissions and contribute to the circular economy.
The head of Tuseres stressed that these actions are not only for international tourists, but also for local people, because the environmental responsibility of the destination belongs to everyone.
“Right now what we are already promoting are low emissions, we are obviously doing this in a considerable way with companies, many of which, normally hotels, do separate waste, but right now the important thing would be to permeate the population and that is where we need an education program,” he said.

For this reason, he believes that citizens and the communities themselves should emphasize how important it is to separate waste, as well as the 3 R’s (reuse, recycle and reuse), because “although we are all the problem, we are also all We are the solution.”
