One might almost think that a year ago, at the New Year’s gate, we would have missed the large banner on which Dante’s “Ye who enter here, abandon all hope” was written. But there is still time for the new golden twenties.

We wished so much that everything would go back to normal. After all, the time of the pandemic was hard on all of us. In fact, the topic of Corona became a little quieter – even if the matter is still not over. But with Russia’s attack on Ukraine, the next big thing in the world was already happening – and the war in the immediate European neighborhood, with all its consequences, quickly became part of everyday life.

In general, the new normal seems to lie in a variety of crises that are also leaving their mark on the world of technology. And yet it is ultimately our industry, community or scene that gives us reason for hope. Despite all the problems, it also shows that we have the tools in our hands to build bridges and overcome crises.

Heads up!

There are many examples of this. The Internet is once again ensuring that young people’s rebellion against oppressive structures does not remain isolated – as in Iran, for example. The experience of developing programmable vaccines in the pandemic may open the door to a whole new medicine. There is rapid progress in building climate-friendly energy networks. And finally mankind is again before a new jump to the moon.

Despite everything, there is no reason to start the new year in a gloomy mood. So now is the time to dance on the old 2022 and greet the time to come. All that remains for the editors is to say thank you to all the readers who have remained loyal to us. We will be there for you again next year.

We wish you all a Happy New Year and an excellent start to 2023!
