Reynosa man faces million-dollar bail after being charged with murder in Edinburg

Edgar Iván González, 44 years old and a Reynosa resident, was charged with first degree murder this Thursday, August 3 for the death of 32-year-old Eric Michael García. The bail set was one million dollars.

The man was arrested this past Wednesday while he was on 23rd Street in McAllen. For this crime, the authorities continue to search for Juan Miguel Herrera Gómez, 38 years old.

On the day of the crime, García was apparently visiting a friend when a person apparently approached his vehicle, argued with him, and then shot him before fleeing the scene. So far the authorities have not revealed what the motivation for this crime would be.

Police found the man, who was the father of three girls, dead around 2:00 am on Sunday, July 23. That same day, the authorities searched the residence of Herrera Gómez but did not find him. What they did find was his vehicle, a white 2021 Chevrolet truck.

If you have any further information regarding this case or the whereabouts of Herrera Gomez, you may contact the Edinburg Police Department at (956) 289-7700.

Eric Michael Garcia, 32, was found dead inside a car on Garfield Avenue in Edinburg, and authorities have already identified a suspect.
