Two weeks after the release of “Glass Onion”the director told Netflix that he had started working on the next adventures of detective Benoît Blanc.

Less than a month after the release of Glass Onion: a tale at loggerheadsdirector Rian Johnson is already working on a third part of his series of successful films.

Interviewed in the Netflix podcast Skip Introthe filmmaker, to whom we also owe the film Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedisays he is in the middle of making the next mystery that Detective Benoît Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, will have to solve.

“I’m already starting to work on it, not because I have the pressure of having to prepare the next film, but because it amuses me so much”, he assured.

$450 million

This third part ofAt loggerheads was announced in 2020 when Netflix signed an agreement to acquire the rights to two sequels to Rian Johnson’s saga. Estimated at $450 million, according to Deadlineit is the most expensive arrangement in the history of streaming platforms.

In addition to the production of these two films, this agreement also stipulates that Rian Johnson must direct these sequels and that Daniel Craig must embody his character of Benoit Blanc. While the second part ofAt loggerheads, Glass Onion just released on December 23 on Netflix, no release date has yet been announced for this third film. Rian Johnson warns, however, that this sequel is very likely to stand out from his previous films:

“Be ready for the third installment in the ‘Knives Out’ franchise to make a difference.”

And to conclude: “Beyond the decor, beyond the bikinis versus the sweaters, it’s really going to be about trying something different narratively and tonally. I’m already looking forward to doing the next one. .”
