Bochum/Dortmund.
Due to construction work at Dortmund main station, the S 1 will not stop at two stops once every hour. This goes on for several months.

In the next few months, the S-Bahn line S 1 traveling in the direction of Dortmund will stop once every hour at two points: in Bochum-Ehrenfeld and Dortmund-Dorstfeld-Süd. Deutsche Bahn confirms this when asked by WAZ.

Affected are the trains that depart at 39 minutes from Essen Central Station and arrive in Dortmund at 18. The stop in Bochum-Ehrenfeld at minute 56 and in Dorstfeld at minute 14 are permanently canceled for the time being. However, there are no timetable changes for the other three trains on the S 1, which run every hour.

S 1 does not stop at two stops in between: time savings

The reason for the restrictions is the large construction site at Dortmund Central Station. “Tracks six and seven are currently being rebuilt,” explains Bahn spokesman Dirk Pohlmann. The S 1 actually stops there, which now switches to a neighboring track. In order not to delay the departure of other trains, the two stops in Bochum-Ehrenfeld and Dortmund-Dorstfeld-Süd are currently omitted. This leads to a necessary time saving of three minutes.

The impairments will last until December 10th, when there will be a timetable change, according to Pohlmann.

Deutsche Bahn initially did not provide information about the canceled stops, only the timetables were updated. “It’s annoying, I would have at least been happy to see a notice,” reports a commuter from Bochum who lives in Weitmar-Bärendorf.
