The Argentine ambassador in Brazil, Daniel Scioli, ratified his intentions to compete for the presidency in the next elections. “The formula is going to be federal. In each of my political stages I had a strong commitment to the interior,” said the candidate who will go for the Frente de Todos.

When participating in the AmCham summit, the former Buenos Aires governor avoided giving the name of who his vice-presidential candidate would be and pointed out that the election of a person from the interior is “thought to govern, not just put together a formula for an election.”

Within this framework, he analyzed the current situation and stated that “Argentina does not have a structural dollar problem, today it has a short-term petty cash problem.”

“I know that there is pessimism, uncertainty: I come to talk to you about what I am convinced about, what is coming,” remarked Scioli, who stressed that “a qualitative leap towards the future” must be made.

And, facing the auditorium full of businessmen, he added: “I guarantee a friendly business climate, legal certainty, freedom of expression, reaching points of agreement, speaking with all sectors.”

Referring to the election year, the Frente de Todos candidate defended the PASO as a tool to define the candidacies: “I want very clearly that they not elect me in a political meeting between four walls: I want to have the support and legitimacy because after I am going to have to make the reforms that they have to make”.

Asked if an eventual application of Cristina Kirchner would make her pre-candidacy decline, the former motorboat confirmed his race for the Rivadavia seat: “I have already made a decision. I like competition: my life is synonymous with competition. Not in challenging terms , against nobody. I was not running to sink the other’s boat: I was competing to overcome it”, he stated and concluded: “The will of the Argentine people is the great computer”.
