A woman who murdered her 3 grandchildren aged 5, 7 and 8 in 2019 in Venezuela was arrested at the beginning of the month at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, when she was trying to flee the country in an unknown direction. For 3 years, the woman had been on the run and was intensely wanted for the murder of the little ones.

Yazmín Prieto Paduaniz, known in Venezuela as “the murderous grandmother”, was accused of qualified intentional homicide against her grandchildren Yoenny Daniela (5), Brayan Alejandro (7) and Branyelis Fabiana Prieto Paduaniz (8) and had an arrest warrant from the January 23, 2019.

Supposedly, Yazmín drowned the little ones because “she was tired of supporting the children.” The victims were under her care since the mother of the minors fell prisoner.

The bodies of the boys were found on January 12, 2019 in a barrel without water in an apartment in the 10 de Marzo urbanization, after an aunt of the boys, Yasmín Prieto, reported their disappearance.

According to the National Forensic Science and Medicine Service, the children drowned. “Mechanical suffocation by immersion”, says the official report.

For the crime, the aunt and another uncle of the boys, Henry Alexander Prieto, were also arrested, according to local media, says TN.
