Some protesters stop the World Cup sticking their hands to the road: the police took them off with hammer blows

Surreal what happened this Sunday in the World Cup in Scotland. The peloton was on its way to Glasgow, having left from Edinburgh, when the race was halted by protests.

There were 194 kilometers to go when the bikes warned the riders, who don’t wear earpieces in this race, to stop. They did not want to offer more details from the UCI about the reason for the demonstrations.

Until that moment, Doull, Dinham, Tejada, Vermaerke, Gamper, Toewsend, Christense, Neilands and Kelene they were on the run. Bennett, Fagundez and Schuurhuis, who had been chasing, were hunted just before the break. A stop that made the race end beyond 5:00 p.m. in Spain, the scheduled time.

Five police units approached the area to evacuate the protesters, who had glued their hands to the road with a kind of cement. Several policemen had to go and take them off with a clean hammer, as can be seen in the images of the video that heads this news item. The race finally resumed at 1:15 p.m.
