Spider-Man Through the Spider-Verse is coming and Sony Pictures has brought a new poster to make fans of the arachnid hero — in all its versions — even more excited about the debut. And the new artwork is exactly what you might expect from something related to the feature: a landmark festival in a sea (or universe) of Spider-Men.

With an obvious highlight on Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, the two protagonists of the adventure, the poster features several other variations of the Friendly Neighborhood, including old acquaintances and others who will make their debut in this new chapter of animation.

And the newcomers are the ones who get the most attention. In addition to the new Spider-Woman on her mighty motorcycle and Spider-Man 2099, you can also see Spider-Man India and Spider-Punk. From what has been shown so far, it is quite possible that they are the versions of the character that will have more space in the story, although it is not yet possible to say how much.

In addition, other variants coming directly from the comics also appear, such as the Scarlet Spider, the Iron Spider, the Man-Shame and even the Spider-Werewolf. Also appearing is the version of Peter Parker from the animation. Spider-Man: Unlimited Action and what appears to be the hero of the 1978 tokusatsu classic.

But the most fun part of this new art is the extrapolations. The idea of the Spider-Verse is interesting precisely because it allows you to create meaningless variations of the hero — and we have a little of that with Spider-Cat or Spider-Man, a hockey player or samurai. We’ve already seen some of that craziness in the last few trailers, and this poster only reinforced that notion.

The War of the Spiders

Another important detail is in the message that Sony released along with the promotional material for Through the Aranhaversa. The studio talks about War of the Spiders, which is a pretty interesting clue to what we can expect from the story — as well as an unavoidable joke. Although Mancha has been announced as the villain of the plot, nothing we’ve seen so far poses him as this real threat. In fact, it’s Spidey 2099 that has been posing as this early antagonist.

Thus, this mention of War of the Spiders strongly reinforces the hypothesis that the central conflict of Through the Spider-Verse will be in this clash between Miles and Miguel O’Hara, reverberating to other dimensions.

Spider-Man Through the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 1st.
