O American guitarist Stanley Jordan is preparing to give two concerts in Portugal, next May.

The musician, nominated four times for the International Grammy, performs in Lisbon, on the 7th of May, at Teatro Tivoli, and in Porto, on the 14th, at Casa da Música. Production is by Backstage Productions.

With almost 40 years of career, the musician, who admits to being an admirer of Mariza, has taken his unique way of playing with the so-called ‘touch technique’ to various parts of the world, but says he identifies with Portugal, one of his places “favorites to play”, according to a statement to which the News by the Minute had access.

A classically trained pianist, Jordan, 63 years old, manages, with his playing technique, melodies and chords simultaneously. In addition, he plays two different guitars at the same time, or even a guitar and a piano.

Jordan knows Portuguese music and admits to liking Mariza, whom he does not spare praise for.

“An artist that I particularly like is Mariza. She brings a new voice to an old and beautiful tradition. Her voice is powerful and dramatic, but at the same time one feels the tenderness and nostalgia that made fado a lasting musical style”, said the musician, quoted in the same note.

Tickets for the May concerts cost between 15 and 35 euros.
