New York authorities released Kai Cenat early Saturday morninga Twitch and YouTube streamer who was arrested hours before for causing chaos in a central Manhattan square by promising to give away Playstation 5 consoles, which attracted thousands of people.

The 21-year-old “influencer”, who was detained at the 19th police station on the Upper East Side of Manhattan part of Friday and Saturday, received a ticket requiring him to appear in New York City Criminal Court for an arraignment.

New York Police Department Chief Jeffrey Maddrey said at a press conference yesterday that Cenat could face two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly in connection with the chaos on Friday afternoon, as the man had not obtained any permits for his event..

According to Maddrey, at least three police officers and four civilians were injured in the chaos.

A 17-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with what authorities initially believed to be a gunshot wound.but later it was discovered that they were injuries sustained after the teen was hit with fireworks that a rioter threw into the crowd.

Due to the large number of people who went to the central square of Union Square, most of them young, the police issued an alert 4, which implies the mobilization of up to a thousand uniformed officers to contain the crowd that took over the square and the streets that surround it, paralyzing traffic at rush hour.

There were more arrests, but their total number is unknown.
