Christian Streich has revealed that he once wanted to bring Jonas Hector to SC Freiburg. The head coach said on Thursday: “Before he came to Cologne, we had a look at him and would have liked to have brought Jonas to us. With everything you see and what he radiates, Jonas Hector would actually have been a perfect Freiburg player.”. Until 2010, Hector played for SV Auersmacher in the Oberliga, before he became a club icon in Cologne and a 43-time German international.
After the current season, Hector ended his professional career at the age of 32. The defensive all-rounder announced that after the 3-1 win at TSG Hoffenheim last Saturday. Tomorrow, Saturday (3:30 p.m.), he and his FC team will meet Freiburg and Streich at the start of his Bundesliga farewell tour.
