Student stumbles upon intruder while sleeping in his New Haven apartment

A Yale graduate student woke up to find an intruder in his apartment on Mansfield Street in New Haven, Connecticut, early Tuesday morning and Yale police said they have increased patrols in the area.

Yale Police Chief Anthony Campbell said in a public safety advisory that it happened around 3:39 a.m. Tuesday.

The man who entered the home did not appear to have a weapon and the student was not injured, police said.

Yale police are urging students to lock doors and windows when they leave home or go to sleep, keep doors locked, and make sure the entrance to their residence hall is well lit.
