In recent days, a video was released in which a group of armed subjects announced the presence of a criminal group that would have the objective of confronting the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) in the city of TijuanaLower California.

The six subjects, equipped with tactical elements and long weapons, appeared in front of a banner with the text “Suicide legionnaires”, accompanied by an image representing a Roman soldier. According to local sources, this group would be aligned with the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically with the Los Mayos faction, commanded by Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.

Regarding the individual who was referred to as “El Romano”, there are no public records about his identity or his possible place within the scene of organized crime in the north of the country.

However, said nickname had already appeared in intimidating messages against the CJNG in recent times. In mid-February, on the same dates that the video circulated through different media, residents reported the presence of a narcomanta in the area of ​​Plaza 5 and 10. In the message, which was also accompanied by the image of a roman helmet, said:

Unofficial information said that, in addition to the CJNG, among the rival groups that this armed faction would face are the remnants of the Arellano Felix cartel (CAF), also called the Tijuana Cartel, with the exception of Pablo Edwin Huerta Nuño, aka “El Skinny”. Although this man had been identified as a hit man and head of the CAF, it is presumed that he would now work for the Sinaloan organization.

Previous reports had mentioned “Skinny” as a great negotiator, because apparently, in addition to leading a cell of the Arellano Félix, he would have managed to agree on several agreements with the CJNG. For this reason, the possible change of sides from him to the Sinaloa Cartel was not ruled out.

It should be remembered that Tijuana is one of the key points for drug trafficking groups, since it represents an area for direct access of drugs to the United States.
