The man who was accused of shooting and killing an alleged abuser in Berisso has gone free. This was decided by the Justice this Tuesday, after no evidence was found that he was the author of the fatal shots, after a furious reaction to a request for help from one of his alleged victims (see: https://www.eldia.com/nota/2023-4-11-4-16-41-reaccion-fatal-en-berisso-matan-de-un-balazo-a-un-acusado-de-abuso-policiales).
The fatal episode occurred on Sunday night at North 148th Street between 15 and 16 and caused great commotion in the area. The truth is that today, based on the evidence and testimonies collected, the guarantee judge Marcela Garmendia ordered her release.
As EL DIA was able to learn from judicial sources, one of the reports collected places another suspect at the crime scene. That is why the investigators are not sure that it was the man who was detained who fired the shots. In any case, they are still looking for clues and statements that bring them closer to what happened that fateful night when the accused sexual offender, in an apparent drunken state, gained the interior of a property located just one block from the tragic scene and , according to police sources, he ran into two young women whom he would have begun to grope the breasts and different parts of the body.
According to witnesses, fearing the worst, they were able to convince the attacker to leave the house under the pretext of talking to him on the sidewalk. However, they used that alibi to run away for help.
The spokespersons explained that this is how one of the victims contacted an acquaintance, nicknamed “Chucky”, to whom she told what had happened. In these circumstances, out of his mind, the neighbor went looking for the defendant and found him at his home. Just at that moment the couple came out shouting and with their torso uncovered. The presumption is that he also tried to get away with her.
For this, when police personnel were already warned of the fact, upon reaching North 148th Street, everything had already rushed. So much so that they found the accused rapist shot in the abdomen. In the face of the emergency, they called for an ambulance and the person shot ended up being transferred to the Mario Larrain hospital, although he lost his life minutes later. Police identified him as William Ortigoza Villalba, 41 years old.
Regarding the detainee and later released (Emiliano Ariel Roldán, 31 years old), they managed to catch him after two raids in 18 between 149 and 150 and in 153 between 17 and 18, both by Berisso. Personnel from the Homicide cabinet of the DDI La Plata took part in the operations, together with members of the first police station of the neighboring city.
The prosecutor on duty, Juan Menucci, took part in the investigation, which required the arrest of Roldán, although as reported this morning he was released. Although the accusation is for the crime of homicide qualified by the use of a firearm, and it was not indicated about the discovery of the element used to kill Ortigoza Villalba, it is not clear who fired the shot and they believe that other people were in the scene.
In addition, although there were some searches throughout the sector, it is suspected that the time that elapsed between the crime and the capture could have been used to discard or hide it.
