In fact, it is not a simple tribute illustration by Ikemoto since the official sequel to the masterpiece by Naruto is genuinely directed towards the events that will feature the protagonists themselves as teenagers. The series begins with Boruto and Kawaki, the former the son of Naruto and the latter the rival of the protagonist of the sequel, on the stone faces of the Hokage in a destroyed and decimated Leaf village. Starting from this nefarious event, the series then went back chronologically to build a storyline to reach the flashforward.
In the last chapters of the manga Mikio Ikemoto has made a great leap forward towards that future destiny that is impossible to change and now the designer has confirmed the progression, precisely, by creating a new version of Boruto and Kawaki grown up. Here below the illustration we talk about:

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations it’s a manga drawn down from Mikio Ikemoto (Masashi Kishimoto’s assistant during the serialization of NARUTO) And written from Ukyo Kodachi up to Chapter 51 (Kishimoto’s assistant during the making of the screenplay of the film of “Boruto: Naruto the Movie“). Masashi Kishimoto held the role of supervisor until Chapter 51 becoming screenwriter from the Chapter 52.
The work arises as a sequel to the manga NARUTO. They have currently been published 77 chapters, and the first 75 are collected in 19 volumes. In Italy the manga is published by Planet Manga with the former 18 issues (retrieve the 18th up here Amazon if you are willing to buy it).
Five novels have been published in Japan. They are inspired by the initial arc of the anime by Boruto: Naruto Next Generations until it has reached the events of Boruto: Naruto the Movie. Planet Manga has already published all volumes that are available for purchase.
