At least since 2005 and the acclaimed release of the horror classic “The Exorcism of Emily Rose” by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson: Anyone who likes horror, moments of shock and fun filled with adrenaline and blood has come to the subgenre of exorcism -Movies not over. One of the most recent films that deals with possessed people, cursed places and intensive exorcism is Daniel Stramm’s The Devil’s Light (original title: Prey for the Devil). The strip is Approved for ages 16+ and was released in German cinemas on November 3, 2022. Missed the horror movie but still interested? The Devil’s Light, distributed by Lionsgate and the indie film company Gold Circle Films, was released on February 4, 2022 on DVD and Blu-Ray and includes the 93-minute horror flick, which can be played in German and English Audio comments, a making-of, various featurettes and much more.
The Devil’s Light – what is it about?
Happy Reunion: From a young age, nun Ann (Jacqueline Byers) learned the hard way about dealing with demons and the possessed. As the child of a mentally ill and abusive mother, she grew up in a violent household and with the firm belief that mental illness was not responsible for the atrocities and violence in the family circle, but the devil himself. Many years later, the ambitious young lady was given an honor that had never been seen before: she was admitted to St. Michael’s Catholic School, which had been teaching men in Boston how to cast out devils for many years.
Of course, among the strictly religious and conservative men, the school’s first wife has few people to rely on, but fortunately she has the teaching Father Quinn (Colin Salmon) and her loving fellow student, Father Dante (Christian Navarro) at her side Page. And, believe us when we tell you: Ann desperately needs the help! Because when ten-year-old Natalie is admitted as a patient to be healed by a demon, a web of strange occurrences of the present and Ann’s traumas of the past is spun. Isn’t the haunting of your childhood over?
With The Devil’s Light, director Daniel Schramm tells a classic exorcist story and combines it with a number of thriller elements and a psychological drama. According to the critics, the script was not particularly convincing, but the leading actress Jacqueline Byers should shine with an excellent performance.
