– This information leak is unique compared to previous leaks, says Thomas Rid to the Reuters news agency.
Unlike other leaks where the information came from only one source, such as the National Security Agency (NSA), the new documents are compilations from several qualified sources. Among them probably also human resources, i.e. spies.
– Future resources will ask themselves the question, should I really spy on behalf of the United States if they cannot keep secrets?
Thomas Rid believes that the biggest damage is that America’s allies may begin to question how much intelligence they should share.
