In the space of one episode, The Last of Us series already takes everything in its path. Naughty Dog’s adaptation of the game helps HBO break incredible records.

Americans were very numerous to watch the grand premiere of the series The Last of Us. In truth, it was a worldwide triumph.

The series The Last of Us, a new box signed HBO

After promising trailers and intensive teasing during various interviews, The Last of Us series is finally here. A highly anticipated show? Yes at the sight of the figures shared by HBO. For the broadcast of its first episode, Sunday evening in the United States, the adaptation attracted 4.7 million viewers.

It’s still a long way from House of the Dragon’s 9.9 million, but it’s never seen for 12 years. The only series that ran so well on the channel was the first episode of Boardwalk Empire with 4.81 million viewers. For the more curious, know that the series The Last of Us also sends Game of Thrones back to the ropes with its launch at 4.2 million, and literally crushes Euphoria which had collected “only” 2.4 million for the release of its season 2.

In its press release, HBO specifies that the audience of Sunday evening accounts for 20 to 40% of “total brutal viewership per episode”which leaves room for improvement for SVOD viewing.

We’re thrilled to see fans of the series and the game experience this iconic story in a new way, and we extend our thanks to them for helping to make it a success. Kudos to Craig Mazin, Neil Druckmann, the brilliant cast and crew who have worked so hard to bring this series to life. We can’t wait to see fans around the world enjoying the rest of the season.

Neil Druckmann is happy to have accomplished his goal, which was to “to make the best possible adaptation of this beloved story for as wide an audience as possible” with The Last of Us series.

A model student who ignites Twitter

The Last of Us series also blew up the counters on review sites like Rotten Tomatoes. For the moment, the note is at 99% on the press side. Be the most popular HBO show in a long time when it premiered. On IMDB, it gets 9.5/10.

When it launched on Sunday night, the TLOU series also topped Twitter trends, in the United States and around the world, even as the NFL Championship Finals took place on American soil. And to be more popular than this sport there, you have to go there. It also climbed to the top position in the Apple TV rankings within 24 hours of its broadcast.
