Four months before its release, Disney’s blockbuster is unveiled in a new trailer. We see for the first time Melissa McCarthy in Ursula, the big bad.

A new (short) trailer for the live action remake of The little Mermaid by Disney was unveiled during the Super Bowl last Sunday. A few days later, it was finally posted.

It should delight fans: it presents more unpublished images than the first trailer, and shows for the first time, quite furtively, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, the big bad.

Expected in French cinemas on May 24, 2023, The little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Mary Poppins Returns). In development since 2016, this new version was shot during the year 2021.

The role of a lifetime

For Halle Bailey, it’s the role of a lifetime, she confided last year at the D23 show: “When I was a little girl and I was swimming in the pool imagining myself being a mermaid, I never imagined this could become a reality.”

Halle Bailey is best known for being one half of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle, which she created with her sister. If she already has experience in comedy thanks to her role in the series Grown-ish, The little Mermaid will be his first major film role.

The cast reunites around Halle Bailey Javier Bardem (King Triton), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula), Awkwafina (Eureka), Jonah Hauer-King (Prince Eric), David Deegs (Sébastien) and Jacob Tremblay (the Flounder Fish).
