MADRID, 6 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The United States authorities have urged those of Turkey to mediate in the conflict that arose after Russia’s withdrawal from the grain export agreement and pressure the Kremlin to stop using the food crisis as a “weapon of war”.

The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, has had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, whom he has thanked for Ankara’s efforts to move forward with the grain export agreement.

In this sense, he has conveyed the need to address the use “inhuman” in his opinion he is making of this crisis and has asked for the collaboration of the Turkish authorities to put pressure on the Kremlin to give up its efforts to use the food crisis as a “weapon of war”.

Moscow broke the grain export agreement that was first reached in July 2022 more than two weeks ago on the grounds that kyiv was breaching part of it. Since then, Russia has increased its attacks against the port facilities in the city of Odessa, where Ukraine stores tons of grain and cereals.
