Almost 8 years after its release on PC and consoles, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is about to receive a new update with a number of improvements.

Objective stability!

A few weeks after the game’s next-gen update was made available to players, the third installment in the saga benefits from a new patch bringing its share of fixes aimed at significantly improving stability, performance and fun. game for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

Among the bugs fixed on PC, we find in particular the parameters of reflections and displays concerning the performance mode for global illumination. For consoles, issues players are having with their saves are now resolved.

Here are the full details of this 4.01 update:

PC specific:

  • Fixed an issue where the Screen Space Reflections setting would not work on PC despite having it enabled. Players who previously set their SSR setting to high may notice a performance hit.
  • Added a new performance mode for Ray-Traced Global Illumination, which can be enabled by players with compatible hardware. It improves frame rate by prioritizing performance over range and accuracy.

Console specific:

  • Fixed an issue where consoles could create more saves than their set limit, causing various issues with saving the game or resetting user settings.
  • Improved the quality of Screen Space Reflections on next-gen consoles.
  • Ray-traced optimized Global Illumination on next-gen consoles to improve Ray Tracing mode performance.

Quests and Gameplay – All Platforms:

  • Battle Preparations – Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to interact with Avallac’h during the “Let Avallac’h know that everything is ready” objective.
  • Family Matters – Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash when transitioning to Ciri’s Story: Out of the Shadows when talking to the Bloody Baron.
  • King’s Gambit – Fixed an issue where it could be impossible to enter combat with the second Vildkaarl due to an invisible obstacle.
  • Wine Wars: Belgaard – Added a fix for the issue we fixed in version 4.00, where the quest could not be completed if the player destroyed one of the required monster nests while exploring.
  • A Dangerous Game – The armor in Caesar’s room should now change appearance when the alternate Nilfgaardian armor is activated.
  • Axii Puppet – Increased health and damage dealt by the puppet.
  • The Adrenaline Rush mutation should now work as described.
  • Various small fixes to quests and cutscenes.

Localization – All platforms:

  • Fixed various issues with Arabic localization.
  • Added localized versions of Orianna’s song “Lullaby of Woe” in Korean and Simplified Chinese.
  • Adjusted Priscilla’s lip-sync animation to match her Simplified Chinese voiceover during the song “The Wolven Storm”.

As a reminder, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available since May 19, 2015 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game is also playable on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and even Nintendo Switch.
