A 17-year-old teenager, who is the cousin of Salvador Ramos, author of the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, which left 21 deadwas arrested this Monday for threatening to shoot at a school in San Antonio Texas, local media reported.
The youth, identified as Nathan Cruz, was taken into custody after allegedly saying he planned to “do the same thing” as Ramos, who fatally shot 19 children and two teachers on May 24, 2022, at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, according to KSAT reported.
The suspect was investigated after authorities in San Antonio They responded to a call from a relative of Cruz, who was asking for help for the minor’s mental health, reported the EFE agency.
For his part, a relative told the police that they live across the street from an elementary school, and that Cruz noted that the school “will start soon,” according to court documents cited by the previously cited outlet.
Apart from the threat Cruz allegedly tried to buy an AR-45 rifle and threaten a family member, indicated the accusation.
The teen faced charges of making a terroristic threat to the public as a felony. He is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail.
The Uvalde tragedy, which occurred on May 24, 2022, caused different protests and questions about the authorities’ response to the incident, proving that there was ineffectiveness when entering the classroom where the shooting occurred, which consequently produced a series of dismissals and resignations of police and school authorities.
Likewise, a debate over the legal carrying of weapons in the country was established again after Ramos, 18, legally bought two assault rifles a few days after the massacre.
The Uvalde shooting was the second deadliest in US history.after what happened in 2012 at the Sandy Hook school in Newtown, Connecticut, which caused the death of 26 people.
