Matos also alleged that Buckley took the pool of water from him at a time when high temperatures were reported in Puerto Rico, which has caused Mundi to lose weight.

“Buckley indicated to staff that he is concerned about Mundi because it is evident that he is not emotionally well,” Matos said.

Matos said that Mundi was rescued from an elephant slaughter in Africa by the millionaire businessman and animal rescuer Arthur Jones.

Later, she was taken to the “El Mundo” circus, where the Puerto Rico Zoo rescued her at the age of 6 “and she has always been well cared for and cared for in the park by her keepers and staff,” Matos said.

“She has never been mistreated, locked up or left without food,” he emphasized.

The Puerto Rico Juan A. Rivero Zoo, which was founded 69 years ago as a scientific research center and living animal laboratory, will cease operations and all the animals that still remain there will be transferred to various places in the United States for their care. .

In addition to Mundi, other animals that will be moved this Thursday are Felipe the rhinoceros and the hippos Jerónimo and Cindy.
