The consumer price index published by INDEC last week (7.7%) confirmed for the Association of Private Education Institutes of Buenos Aires (Aiepba) “the worrisome delay in fees for private schools that puts the correct operation”, for which reason he requested the revision of the pattern of increases planned for the coming months.

According to Aiepba, the rates charged by these schools drag a delay of the order of 5% as a result of the inclusion by the National Government of the institutes in the “Fair Prices” program.

For this reason, they sent a request to the General Directorate of Culture and Education for an “urgent meeting of the Tariff Commission.

It is argued in the request that “there is a glimpse of an outdating in the fees of schools with state contribution, which if not reversed can further harm the institutions, making it impossible to sustain labor obligations and the educational project.”

The executive secretary of Aiepba, Martín Zurita, explained that inflation until March is 21.7%, “but for the tariffs they imposed unilaterally and without using technical reasons a percentage of 16.8% based on a decision of the ministry of Economy”. Thus, there was a delay of 4.9%.
