Members of the XIV Regional Unit of San Pedro today arrested two criminals with extensive criminal records, one of them for crimes committed in another province of the country.
According to reconstructed police sources, the local police station received a call from a resident of the San Juan area, who explained that an attempted robbery by two armed suspects had taken place in a house next to his. Immediately, the uniformed officers arrived at the applicant’s house, who, together with his son-in-law, had already reduced one of the criminals, a 32-year-old man who had discarded a 25-centimeter knife in a nearby undergrowth, an element that was kidnaped.
According to the account of the 52-year-old complainant, he was with his daughter and son-in-law, when in the early hours of this Monday morning, two men entered his home at knifepoint and with a firearm, where after struggles, one of the defendants was reduced on the spot and the second fled without stealing anything.
Continuing with the inquiries and talking with the owner of the place, they established that the accomplice had escaped in a car, a subject who at the time of the crime had threatened the residents with a firearm.
For this reason, an extensive lock operation was mounted on all the routes and arteries of the region, resulting in the arrest of the second 28-year-old man, in a blockade control carried out on national route No. 14 and provincial route No. 16, who It turned out to be a native of the province of Santa Cruz. At the time of the arrest, they saw that in the wallet that the individual was carrying were documentation of the first prisoner. In turn, they hijacked the vehicle in which he was traveling.
Finally, both were transferred to the police unit at the disposal of Justice along with the kidnappings. Also at this time, Criminal Intelligence continues with the investigations in order to establish if they participated in other acts of crimes against property in the area.
