EDELAP reported this Friday that it had identified and dismantled a series of illegal connections in La Plata that “affect the quality of the service.” On this occasion, Company personnel carried out a new operation in which they discovered 26 buildings in an irregular situation, all within the urban area.

Some of the places detected are still under construction, others are finished without inhabiting and in some cases they have users living in the properties and, as detailed, most of them have high electricity consumption since they only have energy service electrical. The buildings, with several floors and thousands of square meters, have a high real estate value, averaging $50,000 per unit, and were clandestinely or fraudulently connected to the network. In all cases, minutes were drawn up and dangerous connections were removed.

The theft of energy, in its different methodologies, generates excessive unrecorded consumption that overloads power lines, damages them and causes a decrease in the quality of service received by neighboring users who are correctly connected, generating voltage problems or outages.

The EDELAP staff thus proceeded to dismantle the irregular connections in the buildings located at the following addresses: Calle 4 between 64 and 65, Calle 50 between 18 and 19, Calle 23 between 50 and 51, 5/61 and 62 No. 1409, Calle 61 between 5 and 6 No. 534, “BUILDING” Calle 61 between 1 and 2, “CENTENNIAL” 2 street between 61 and 62, 58 and 23 N°1258, 58 and 23 street N°1254, 56 street between 30 and 31, 70 street between 26 and 27, 67 street between 117 and 118, 64 street between 120 and 121, Calle 19 between 70 and 71, Calle 16 between 63 and 64, Calle 19 between 64 and 65, Calle 66 between 17 and 18, Calle 14 and 64, Calle 72 between 7 and 8, Calle 60 between 22 and 23, Calle 66 between 18 and 19, Calle 26 between 54 and 55, Calle 15 between 63 and 64, Plaza Sarmiento and 19, Plaza Irigoyen between diagonal 74 and 58, Calle 58 between 13 and 14, Calle 58 between 16 and 17.

In all cases, the holders of the service will be charged for the energy consumed illegally, including the corresponding penalties as established in the Supply and Connection Regulations. In addition, users who were detected with these clandestine connections and those who offer the service of illegal connections and different maneuvers to manipulate electrical installations will be criminally denounced, they indicated.

Stealing energy is a crime punishable by imprisonment of up to 6 years, which also puts the life of the person handling it and third parties at risk, also damaging the quality of the electrical service, they closed from EDELAP.
