Miami-Dade Police (MDPD) is investigating a robbery that occurred at a jewelry store located on Coral Way, from where two safes were allegedly stolen.
MDPD said it received an emergency call at 5:45 am The preliminary investigation, according to police, indicates that the alleged thieves were able to access the jewelry store from an adjacent business.
The jewelry store is located at 7249 Coral Way in Miami, in a small shopping plaza, southwest of Miami-Dade.
The police said that two safes were taken and that although the inventory of what was stolen is still being taken, it is estimated that the value would exceed $500,000.
MDPD detectives went to the scene to collect evidence and review surveillance video.
Images collected by Telemundo 51 showed damage in the back, where the jewelry is located.
