Veracruz.- The director of the regional welfare office in Tlapacoyan, Veracruz, Leonardo Guzmán Hernández, was assassinated on Friday night in the municipal seat.

The official was intercepted at the intersection of Constituyentes and 16 de Septiembre streets in Colonia Benito Juárez, south of the city.

It was around 10:00 p.m. yesterday when security elements mobilized after the report of shots at the scene, where the man was found lying on the ground with no vital signs.

At the beginning of the proceedings, shell casings were found at the scene, however, no trace was found of him or the aggressors.

The cause of the attack is also unknown.

The body was collected to be taken to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), where relatives will pick it up.

The Tlapacoyan City Council condemned the attack and sent condolences to the family

“The municipal administration sends its deepest condolences to the Family of Leonardo Guzmán Hernández, who served as director of municipal Welfare

“May God, our Lord, give prompt resignation to family, friends and loved ones,” it was read.
