Thousands protest in Homestead against DeSantis immigration law

With the entry into force of this law today, July 4, the concern of different sectors that allege that it would be promoting discrimination long before it came into force increases.

Under the phrase “Freedom for all”, this afternoon Thousands of workers, religious leaders and immigrant families protest at Homestead City Hall.

They ask to be heard and to stop the discrimination based on race, class and gender that has been generated by the law that entered into force today signed by Governor DeSantis against irregular migration.

Protesters say the law makes life more difficult for Florida’s estimated 775,000 undocumented immigrants, as well as the many licensed residents who employ them.

Earlier in Miami, the American Business Immigration Coalition also shared with different sectors national strategies for the defense of people affected by the new state law.

A meeting in which they also discussed a new federal initiative that provides work permits to undocumented workers and their families in Mexico, Central America and the south of the continent.

What worries these sectors and the protesters in general the most is the misinformation that only leads to more discrimination.

At Homestead City Hall, more than 3,000 people are expected to participate in this demonstration that will last until late at night and of which we will, of course, keep you up to date.
