The Stiftung Technisches Hilfswerk (THW) is supporting civil protection in Ukraine this winter with twelve heated tents worth a total of 490,000 euros. The Chairman of the Board of the THW Foundation, Albrecht Broemme, SE informed the Ukrainian Ambassador Olekseii Makeiev today at a personal meeting in his embassy in Berlin. The winter-proof tents, financed with earmarked donations from the population, were transported by a Ukrainian freight forwarder from the THW logistics center in Obernburg, Bavaria, to Kyiv and Lviv.
Enormous willingness to donate shows the sympathy of the German population
“The winter-proof tents, which we are handing over to the civil defense of Ukraine on behalf of the many thousands of donors, help exactly where people are freezing and they are most urgently needed. We are happy and grateful for this enormous donation, which shows the great willingness of the German population to donate This is not a matter of course and has far exceeded our expectations,” says Albrecht Broemme from the THW Foundation. HE Ambassador of the Ukraine Olekseii Makeiev also says thank you: “First and foremost, I would like to thank the THW Foundation, which collected the donations and procured the tents. Of course, our thanks also go to the donors, who made this help possible in the first place . This shows once again the great sympathy of the people in Germany for the people in Ukraine.”
That too Technical relief organization (THW) helps the Ukrainian population
THW has been supporting Ukraine in neighboring countries and in Germany for nine months. Thousands of voluntary and full-time THW workers from more than 530 local organizations have been deployed so far. They build emergency shelters in Germany, provide emergency aid with equipment or devices for the affected neighboring countries and deliver relief supplies to the Ukrainian partners. The volume of the entire logistics operation is currently more than 70 million euros.
In order to financially support the important work of the THW in the future, the THW Foundation is still dependent on every monetary donation.
About the Foundation for Technical Relief:
The work of the THW thrives on voluntary commitment. The more than 80,000 helpers throughout Germany are highly motivated and committed young people, women and men, older and younger people, people with German and foreign roots, with a wide variety of professional and personal backgrounds. In an emergency, they help quickly, unbureaucratically and free of charge. Most of the money for the missions comes from taxes. The THW Foundation supplements where state funds are lacking.
Individuals, companies, support associations or foundations can support the work of the THW Foundation. The donations ensure long-term civil and disaster protection, the work of young people and the technical equipment of the THW.
