bytedance has a high demand for graphics cards for professional use, especially those intended to speed up processes in data centers. The most requested models are the A100 and the H800the latter based on the Hopper architecture, which began to be manufactured only in March of this year, but which has already aroused great interest in companies around the world.
The reason for the ByteDance lawsuit is not limited solely to the management of TikTok, one of the largest social networks in the world. The company also seeks to advance current and future projects of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. ByteDance is developing its own language model rather than adopting an existing one like GPT-4, which requires cutting-edge technology to scale and refine the process.
To date, the company has ordered more than 100,000 units of graphics cards, between orders already placed and others still pending. This purchase equates to the total number of GPUs sold by NVIDIA in China last year.
